The Gwoza Christian Community Association (GCCA) has issued a pressing call to action, urging the Government to repatriate thousands of Christians currently living as refugees in Minawao Camp, Cameroon for over 10 years.
This plea comes after the group's maiden meeting on October 17, 2024, at the EYN Headquarters, Kwarhi, Mararaba Mubi, Hong LGA in Adamawa State, where they expressed deep concern over the government's one-sided evacuation efforts.

In a show of solidarity, Rev. Dr. Daniel Y. C Mbaya, PhD, EYN President advised the group to push the government to return hundreds of thousands of Gwoza indigene, including over 18,000 EYN members, who have become refugees due to insurgency. The President's call to action emphasizes the need for unity, prayer, and partnership with humanitarian bodies to address the plight of Gwoza Christians.

Amos Amthe (Pentecostal Churches Representative) and Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa (Host/ GCCA Zonal Coordinator, Yola Zone and EYN Administrative Secretary)
Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa, speaking with EYN News, clarified that GCCA is not seeking partnerships with political parties but rather acting as a pressure group advocating for its members' rights. The meeting highlighted the government's inadequate efforts in returning Christian communities to Gwoza, noting that no single Christian community has been repatriated.
Key Concerns Raised by GCCA:
- One-Sided Evacuation: Dis- satisfaction of the government's primarily focused on evacuating non-Christian communities, leaving thousands of Christian refugees in Minawao Camps without assistance.
- Repatriation of Gwoza Indigene: GCCA demands the safe return of hundreds of thousands of Gwoza indigene, urging that an IDP is better than a refugee despite both are displaced.
- Unity and Prayer: The association emphasizes unity among its members and calls for prayer for peace in Gwoza and the nation.
- Partnership with Humanitarian Bodies: GCCA seeks partnerships with humanitarian organizations, free from political affiliations.
GCCA's concerns are rooted in the traumatic experiences of its members, including those who have escaped Boko Haram captivity. The association urges the government and well-meaning individuals to understand the plight of Gwoza Christians, who are eager to return to their ancestral home.
As the situation unfolds, GCCA's call to action serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice and peace in Nigeria's conflict-ridden regions.
